The Power of Engagement and the League of Women Voters

LWV1The power of engagement was the focus of BrooklineCAN’s annual meeting; in the next few issues of the newsletter we will present organizations that offer opportunities for joining with others to make a difference. Brookline’s League of Women Voters (LWV) is a non-partisan group whose mission is to encourage and promote informed and active participation in the civic affairs of Brookline. LWV never supports or opposes any political party or candidate, but it encourages its members, as individuals, to take part fully in the electoral process. Members work together to produce a free, informative voter’s guide for town elections, hold candidate debates, and present public policy forums. They hold voter registration events and workshops on how to run for office and they advocate on important local, statewide, and national issues. To learn more about the LWV, you are invited to attend an informal gathering the second Friday of each month at Brothers Restaurant, 404 Harvard Street, Brookline, at 9:30 am for spirited discussions on timely issues.¬†
