Housing: Goddard House

GoddardAs part of our series on Brookline housing options for seniors, we focus on the non-profit Goddard House, founded in 1849 and the oldest elder care organization in Massachusetts. Located at 165 Chestnut Street, the facility is close to a bus stop, and offers free parking and a free concierge vehicle for rides within 10 miles. Housing  consists of 75 traditional apartments (rents from $5,000-6600/month) and a separate building with 40 apartments for those with memory issues (private space rent $7700., shared $4000./month). A rental subsidy is available after three years. There is a waiting list and there are no age restrictions. Affiliated with a gerontology practice at Beth Israel Hospital, Goddard House has a licensed nurse on staff and visits from a geriatarician. Amenities include regular cultural events and a large garden planted by residents and staff.
