Parking for Senior Center Volunteers

On the basis of a four-year advocacy effort by the Council on Aging and BrooklineCAN, the Brookline Transportation Board has agreed to establish a new program of extended and free parking for those who do volunteer work at the Senior Center. Staff of the Council on Aging will control six permits for use of the Fuller Street parking lot and two permits for use of the Centre Street lot. The program is responsive to complaints from volunteers who need to drive their own automobiles to the Senior Center, work for more than two hours, and have been at risk of being ticketed when they park for extended periods on the street. A start date for the new program has not yet been announced.
