Frank Caro (1936-2020)

When Frank Caro died suddenly on October 2, Brookline lost one of its finest citizens, and BrooklineCAN lost its founder and leader. In 2010, Frank worked with the Council on Aging and other community organizations to found BrooklineCAN, and he served since then as co-chair with Ruthann Dobek. Frank was instrumental in Brookline being designated the first age-friendly city in New England by the World Health Organization. He initiated numerous projects to improve Brookline for everyone: the latest was the placement of benches along Beacon Street. We will miss Frank’s energy, imagination, and friendly presence. To honor Frank’s memory, we should heed his advice: “Get involved in community affairs. Help to call attention to the good things your community has to offer. Advocate for feasible improvements. Work with like-minded people to multiply what you can accomplish.”
